A Case for Shadows

Hey, Wander One Day!  This is in honor of your comment.  I’m not saying that you would use such bright colors always, but you can see how complimentary colors can liven things up.

  1. Thanks for the example! I do see what you meant about complimentary colors, especially at the far left of the picture just below the eye. The purple shadow contrasts well with the yellow tint in the cheek.

    I also like the way you used the color in the shadows to show shapes. I have never been able to draw a nose correctly – I try to show shape at the bridge of the nose and end up making it look cartoonish. But I see how you really only used a bit of shadow to add dimension to the nose. I’ll have to try this 🙂
