Colored Pencil

Colored pencil, for me, also has a history.  When I was ten, I began designing blueprints for dream houses.  I started with drawing on the sidewalk with limestone.  Next I drew out the houses on the lawn by dropping fall leaves along the ground in lines.  When the weather became too cold, I began asking my parents for sketch books and I drew with colored pencils.

Recently I came across some books about art journals.  The idea intrigued me.  I’ve been journaling since I was ten, so this seemed like a great next step.  I purchased some journals and colored pencils.  Pretty soon I had about four different types of colored pencils.  I discovered how wondrous it was to create flowers, birds, and people with colored pencil on black paper.  I’m in the early phases of learning this new medium, but I find it so relaxing and convenient.  I can work on it no matter where I go and there’s little muss or fuss.
